Out of Simplicity. The warm, soft colours of this set of 144 pastel drawings
are appealing and best enjoyed when placed together as simple, playful shapes,
which form a quilt-like pattern. The drawings are stimulated by the spontaneity
in children's art, although shown here in a stlylised form. The
shapes also occur in nature, in the art of diverse cultures and in modern
art.
The 108 drawings of 'Out of Simplicty' form nine sets, comprising twelve drawings each.
This series of pastel drawings appeals to a sense of play, and comes from a primal place in human nature. The drawings would be particularly suitable for an educational institution.
Toward Complexity. As children grow their drawings become more complex. The artist, too, has explored the basic shapes in greater intricacy in the 36 drawings of this set. They can be displayed either as individual images or in groups of six images.
